EY sets up Tax Tech Transformation group

EY has announced the creation of a dedicated global group of more than 1,000 tax and technology performance improvement professionals from member firms worldwide to help firms digitally transform their tax functions.

The new Tax Technology and Transformation group will provide services to companies to help them manage the impact of existing and emerging technology, help businesses understand how to make data and asset and drive efficiencies to help create a cost-effective tax function.

These services will be overall designed to help businesses navigate the digital age of tax transparency and adapt to new trends in tax compliance an audit methods.

New services to be delivered using the EYTax.Tech platform will include digital tax transformation services, tax applications-as-a-service, tax analytics and reporting enhancement services.

The portfolio will also include emerging technology services such as AI, blockchain, robotic process automation, cloud services, data lake development and business intelligence innovation, as well as custom tax technology application development, strategy and roadmapping and systems implementation and configuration.

“The pace of change in tax legislation, and the accelerated use of technology by governments as they automate their compliance and filing processes, is disrupting the traditional tax function,” EY APAC digital tax leader Albert Lee said.

“The creation of Tax Technology and Transformation recognizes the significant impact that emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, RPA and advanced robotics will have on global business, as well as on our own tax practice.”
