FACE Club holds charity walk to help fund Girls Go Tech program

FACE Club completed its first charity walkHong Kong Computer Society's FACE Club has completed its first charity walk and family fun day to raise funds to help underprivileged girls engage in technology-related activities.

Over 300 participants attended the event, which is aimed at raising funds for the Women's Foundation's Girls Go Tech program.

The charity walk was followed by a session involving live music and an array of game booths such as a VR game, robot football match and DIY handicraft workshop.

The FACE Club selected Mother's Day as the date of its charity walk, which aimed to raise funds to help junior secondary school girls from underprivileged backgrounds pursue careers in STEM. The 2km walk started at Cyberport and followed the route to Information Crescent, Cyberport Road and Cyberport Waterfront Park.

“FACE Club is the first IT women’s club in Hong Kong. By organising different kinds of IT-related activities, we strive to attract more females to this industry and to pursue their career in ICT,” FACE Club chairperson Cally Chan said.       

The FACE Club (female, attract, connect, engage) has the goal of attracting more women to choose ICT as a career, while connecting existing female HKCS members and providing opportunities for female members to engage in HKCS and broader Hong Kong ICT activities.
