Firms to rebuild newly acquired datacenter in Tseung Kwan O

New York-listed datacenter provider Digital Realty Trust and cloud service company Savvis said Tuesday they will rebuild an existing datacenter in Hong Kong.

The 15,236 square meter datacenter -- located in Tsueng Kwan O -- is a recent joint acquisition of the two firms. The facility after redevelopment will be capable of supporting about 5.76 megawatts of IT load capacity, the two companies said.

According to Digital Realty, the two companies will begin construction at the site in Q3 2012 and expect completion in mid-2013.

"The completion of this acquisition with Digital Realty helps us further address demand for managed services, colocation and cloud services in the Hong Kong market," said Mark Smith, managing director, Asia, for Savvis.
