HK Express deploys Ideagen Coruson to enhance safety

HK Express deploys Ideagen Coruson to enhance safetyHK Express has arranged to become the first airline in North Asia to adopt governance, risk and compliance software company Ideagen’s Coruson software to enhance safety, security and quality management.

Since its conversion into a low-fare airline in 2013 HK Express has been growing rapidly, doubling its fleet, network and staff to 19 aircraft, 27 destinations and over 800 employees.

“Our utmost priority is to deliver all our guests to their destinations safely, as we continue on our exciting growth path,” said Roger Lee, director of quality, safety and security at HK Express.

Spencer Mallett, manager of safety management systems, said that similar to other low-fare airlines in the world, operational efficiency is critical to HK Express.

Mallet said Coruson will provide the company with efficiencies across its safety and quality operations, removing the need for physical paper processes and procedures and subsequent manual management.

“Coruson will become our interactive system that will help push ownership and process responsibilities away from the Quality, Safety & Security department,” he said. “We believe the software will spark a cultural change across the business when it comes to safety and quality management.”

Steven Cespedes, Ideagen's head of aviation, said they have seen great momentum in the uptake of the Coruson software in this sector. “It is great credit to the talent and vision of our development team that we continue to deliver this leading edge, best of breed, modern and social SMS solution.”

HK Express is an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registered airline and therefore in compliance with IOSA standards.

Ideagen is an innovator in aviation safety, quality, risk and performance management. The company currently has more than 300 aviation clients across the globe, including Emirates, the International Airlines Group, Ryanair, Thomas Cook, Flybe and KLM.
