PolyU SPEED to deploy SAS analytic tools into data science degree

PolyU's School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED)PolyU's School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED) has implemented advanced SAS analytic tools and services within one of its degrees to help nurture future analytics talent.

SAS tools and services including Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Enterprise Minor will be implemented within the school's bachelor's in science (honours) in applied sciences (statistics and data science) degree to help equip students with high-level data mining and analytics skills.

SAS has also agreed to provide teaching materials, evaluation copies and mock exams from the SAS Global Certification Program, as well as on-campus examinations and free access to SAS University Edition software and e-learning platforms.

With the SAS University Edition and e-learning courses, students are able to learn and practice their data analytics knowledge and skills using self-directed study anywhere and at any time.

“In today’s digital information age, the growing importance of data analytics is increasingly driving the demand for qualified talent for all types of businesses and organizations. There is a rising trend of  potential employers specifically requiring professional skills in SAS analytics tools across different industries and sectors, such as banking and finance, telecommunications, marketing, tourism and government,” commented the award leader of the degree, PolyU SPEED's Dr Kelvin Lo.

“So, we believe that the deployment of SAS analytics tools in our programs is the most practical and effective way to enrich our students’ professional skills and knowledge to meet the pressing needs and challenges in our data-driven community today and tomorrow.”
